Whether it’s an agent sending off your headshots for casting in a new production, or you are adding them to your Linkedin profile to get noticed for a new role, it’s a fact that you will be going up against a whole load of other talented people for the same job.
There’s a good chance that you will all be equally as qualified and great at what you do, and so the next thing to look at is how to get noticed over everyone else. I read an interview with a casting agent that when she flicks through piles of headshots that are put forward for roles, if the imagery stands out in any slight way, then that gives her pause to take a moment on that person.
Photography wise we aren’t talking anything outlandish or obscure, but something more subtle. A quiet pose with beautiful soft natural light and a nice colour palette can make all the difference between a headshot standing out from the pack.
It’s the same with Linkedin. With my portrait photography sessions we absolutely avoid the toe curling ‘employee of the month’ with a white background shots. It’s all about being noticed, and in a world where fast scrolling through imagery is the norm, it’s worth taking a moment to think about what kind of headshot reflects you the best.
When you visit my Tunbridge Wells photography studio you can be rest assured we will take time to get the portraits you need.
